Since 1980, SpringHill Farm & Apiary has been family owned and operated by the Townsend Family in Norwood, NC. In 1988 our beekeeping operation was disrupted when our daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. While the farm was able to be maintained, the apiary went by the wayside while we made the necessary sacrifices for the wellbeing of our daughter and family.

It’s such a beautiful synergy, this relationship between beekeeping and farming, and we knew how much better the flowers and crops would do when we had honeybees to help pollinate. So, in 2020, we decided to start raising honeybees again. It has been, and still is, a learning experience as we have expanded our number of hives every year. The learning never stops when it comes to beekeeping. The environmental threats such as parasites and pesticides have kept us on our toes as we constantly adapt our operation and learn better management techniques.

We absolutely love our honeybees and enjoy the challenges we’ve faced that have allowed us to now be able to sell pure, all-natural, NC Certified honey to locals and abroad. Individuals who enjoy the honey from our bees say it’s absolutely the most delicious honey they have ever tasted! In addition to the honey from our productive bees, we’re proud to showcase our Artisan Marketplace which offers beautiful, handcrafted items from a creative group of artists and craftsmen.
